  • How long do electrical repairs take?

Electrical repair or installation times vary by job, service, and/or task. Our electricians are committed to resolving your issues as soon as possible while taking the necessary time to accomplish the task with safety and craftsmanship in mind!

  • How can I lower my electric bill?

The most common and cost-effective way to lower your electric bill, from a purely electrical standpoint, is to swap out or convert any incandescent or fluorescent lightbulbs/light fixtures for high-quality LED replacements.

We offer LED retrofitting services where our electricians expertly modify legacy lighting equipment to accept LED lightbulbs or trims without having to pay for a full replacement. Reach out today to get started with your property's electrical adjustments.

  • Why do smoke detectors keep beeping?

Smoke detectors beep for various reasons and require periodic maintenance and testing to ensure your fire detection equipment is in good shape and working order. The most common cause for beeping is a dead backup battery that has lost its charge over time and should be replaced immediately.

The batteries keep your equipment operational when the power goes out and should be replaced every year or so. In other instances, the smoke detector has reached its operational limit of seven to 10 years and should be replaced.

Keep in mind that, according to the Edison Electric Institute, smoke alarms must be tested monthly, the batteries must be changed yearly, and the unit must be replaced every 10 years to avoid electrical fires. We offer service plans that cover the inspection, maintenance, and/or testing of smoke detection equipment! Book a maintenance session with our electricians today.

  • Why do lights flicker in my home?

Lights flicker for several reasons and vary based on the type of light or fixture. Some fluorescent lights flicker because of a bad ballast or bulb. LED lights flicker due to issues with the controlling circuitry within the lights themselves.

Our electricians offer services to inspect, diagnose, and replace bad light bulbs with superior and long-lasting lighting equipment! Additionally, some lighting circuits flicker due to voltage irregularities caused by surges from your utility provider. We offer whole-home surge protection as an option to help mitigate the impact of electrical surges within your home! Contact us today to learn more.

  • Can I do my own electrical work?

There are several electrical issues you could accomplish on your own (i.e. replacing burnt-out bulbs, resetting GFCI outlets, etc.), that may save you time and money but could lead to you overlooking a more serious issue.

Your light bulb may have gone out due to age, or it could've experienced an electrical surge. GFCI outlets, both interior and exterior, are designed to "trip" when there is a short on a circuit.

You should always consider the factors regarding issues with your electrical equipment and consult a pro if you're unsure or if problems persist! Our electricians offer diagnosis and repair of non-responsive, defective, or damaged lighting systems and we ensure your issue is well-communicated and resolved!

  • What is GFCI and where do I need it?

GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, and it comes in the form of an outlet or breaker. Essentially, these interrupters are built into outlets to protect from electrical shock. One key area to use GFCI outlets is an area where a water source is present. Reach out today to learn more about this feature from our knowledgeable electricians.

  • How do I know if my breaker panel needs attention?

If your house was built before 1990 and has pulsing lights or electric irregularities, then your breaker panel needs attention. Give us a call today to have your breaker panel serviced by our top-tier electricians.

  • Is a two-pronged outlet safe?

It's not as safe as a three-pronged outlet because it is missing a ground wire. However, our electricians offer outlets that provide that superior protection. If you need to replace your outlets, contact us today.

  • Are the people that come to my house licensed?

Yes. All CK Electric, LLC's electricians are licensed.
